Culinary wasteland is correct, Ron, although, with the money he has, I’m sure he can get decent food. For the rest of us poor folk, forget it. Hope he doesn’t love sushi cause he’ll have to take a trip to NYC to some! Wegman’s is over priced and over-hyped. It’s a grocery store monopoly between them & Tops. I moved to Rochester 6 years ago & disliked the area from the get-go. I found the people to be “clicky”; those from the West side looked down on those from the East side and those in the outer burbs were considered “hicks who lived in the sticks”. Most of the city is a ghetto with loads of violent crimes. There are plenty of nicer places he could have chosen. I think he’s nuts to move there, but hey, I left & am so happy I did! Let’s hope his notoriety can do something positive for the area.

Have lived in the Rochester/ Canandaigua area all of my life. Beautiful people, beautiful lakes, beautiful wine and of course Wegmans. Whats not too like. I agree though head south or west for the winter.

Julia, welcome to Davis. It’s a great place to live. I’m from a small town in Georgia and have lived here on and off since 1995, traveling all over the world in between but it’s always good to come back. The people are real, the climate is good (except for the heat of the summer), the abundance of fresh vegies is incredible, and this is the best location to be near Napa, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and so many other outrageous places in Northern California. Great choice on you part!

In the early sixties were closing his furniture store for the day, when we noticed a couple trying to fix their car’s flat tire. We immediately offered to help. The gentleman had heart issues; and his wife was very grateful. Their to pay us we refused. They asked for our address; and for the next ten years we received a holiday basket from Canada. Indio people help because we want to help people in a crisis.
